Hose Bib Lock Review – Best Value

Use a durable Hose Bib Lock to secure your outdoor water faucets. You can prevent water theft or malicious flooding when no one is home.

Have you had a problem with children turning on your water to play while you are at work or neighbors using your water to wash their car or water their lawn when you are on vacation? It happens. Perhaps you have noticed an unexplained increase in your water bill for your vacation property.

People who would never think of stealing your valuables seem to have no problem helping themselves to your water. It is a common problem when the water is turned off for neighboring properties during construction or while vacant.

With this outdoor faucet lock you can use the padlock of your choice, keyed or combination.

There are several types of water spigot locks available. On the low end, you can find unreliable models for around $9.00, which can be easily broken and removed. You could also pay over $25.00 for a model that is more complicated to use. Some users have been disappointed with the reliability of other models that have their own keys.

Property owners need a simple device that is both dependable and affordable.

Hose Bib Lock Review – What’s Good

Using this Hose Bib Lock prevents water waste, theft and misuse. As drinkable water becomes more scarce and expensive, having locks on your outdoor faucets can save you money and help conserve a limited resource.

This faucet lock is durable and simple to use. It lets you use the kind of secure padlock you like best. If you have a problem with a particular padlock, the faucet lock can still be used with a different padlock. With other spigot locks that have their own key mechanism, when the key fails, the whole faucet lock must be discarded.

The built in washer for this lock keeps the faucet from leaking even if the water is turned on. The part that screws over the threads acts like an end cap. The locked cover prevents a water thief from taking off the cap.

Hose Bib Lock Review – Concerns

When you need to use your spigot, it will take an extra step to remove the lock first.

This lock is made in the USA and is designed to work with normal outdoor hose faucets. Check your faucet to see if it is a regular shape that will allow the end cap tab (with the padlock hole) to stick out far enough through the cover. If your spigot has a backflow preventer valve that is wider than the cover of the faucet lock, this type of lock may not work.

This Hose Bib Lock requires very little maintenance. But occasionally, the padlock should be removed, cleaned and lubricated. This is more important if you leave the lock on for a long time in areas that are particularly dirty, where grit or oxidation can make the lock difficult to open.

  1. This is just what we need! My neighbor on one side showed us photos they took while we were away on vacation of our neighbor on the other side watering his lawn with a hose attached to our faucet. A simple faucet lock is a great way to solve the problem without a confrontation.

  2. Love to see the look on his face the next time he tries to steal your water! We work so hard to conserve water with xeriscaping, I hate to see someone else waste it.

I put these on our vacation cabin when we are away, just to remove temptation.
